SOUTH EAST ASIAN GRAPPLING CHALLENGE: JUN 7-8, 2014 (SINGAPORE)
SOUTH EAST ASIAN GRAPPLING CHALLENGE (GI AND NO GI) TO BE HELD ON THE 7TH-8TH OF JUNE, 2014
Singapore, 05 April 2014 – Bear Productions is proud to announce the South East Asian Grappling Challenge to be held from the 7th - 8th of June, 2014 at City Square Mall.
This is the second of three events scheduled for 2014. The first event catered to over a hundred competitors from over ten different schools. In June, we’re expecting over two-hundred participants. We’re going to cater to our biggest market – which are the white and blue belts, giving them six categories for which they can choose.
We’re always looking to include more belt classes, and grow the women’s categories. These two areas are currently in lower demand, but we’re always leaving the request line open (grappleasia@gmail.com).
The first event was by all measures a success – and our community was very proactive in their feedback. Some of the major items we’re focusing on are the refereeing, the rewards, and the recognition.
We definitely plan to improve our own knowledge of the IBJJF rules, but more importantly we’ve got a plan to begin training local referees. This is a long-term project of ours for which we are getting good local support.
We also know that our competitors love medals – so we’re going to give that to them. The inter-school competition is also quite robust, so we’ll be announcing the school with the best performance – taking into consideration the number of competitors in each bracket, the tournament, and the number/types of medals won.
This competition will showcase the Gi and No-Gi grappling skills of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners from various teams from not only Singapore, but also South East Asia. To register, competitors can visithttp://www.grappleasia.com/register-for-event/ for more information. This event is sponsored by Knockout Gear, City Square Mall and Chang TCM.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system that has gained immense popularity in recent years. Interest in the sport has been growing, as many locals have experienced the beneficial applications in fitness, camaraderie, and self-defense.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive from 10 am onwards on both days.
